I have had my Identity Guard (Model # sh2106pv) shredder for about 6 years now, and I have put this thing through many, many reams of paper, and it still shreds things nicely. It does only rip it into strips, but better than letting your documents go out intact. Very affordable, and dependable. Worth buying as a light use unit. If you are worried about being really secure, then a cross cut shredder/confeti shredder is what you need, but this does it for me. -- Not a cross cut, but decent basic shredder
