This was my first purchase of a Fellowes brand shredder and I will NEVER use any other brand again. This thing is amazing. I bought it solely for the purchase of shredding old newspapers to use as packaging material for items I ship out (I sell on ebay) and this thing is a monster! It is quiet (not silent), shreds sooooo many papers at once, it solidly built and I know will last me forever. It has a sensor for temperature (it will turn off if it gets too hot), a sensor to let you know when you need to empty the tub and a sensor that tells the machine that the door has been opened so it disables the shredder to protect against any injury. I was going to return it before I received it because I didn't know this was strip-cut. I wanted cross-cut initially but this shreds the papers so thin that even if I did have to shred personal information, I wouldn't have to worry about it. $138.54 with no tax and FREE two day shipping was an AMAZING deal. Product was purchased in November 2009 for a small office. Shredder has worked very well. Shredder is quite. Very capable of taking 14-16 sheets 20 lb paper at time. No problem cutting standard staples, CD's, or plastic cards. At shredding capacity of 18 sheets per pass it will give twenty minutes of continuous use before stopping to cool the motor. The Fellowes Powershred SB-80 is an excellent basic shredder. Unlike our previous fairly inexpensive cross-cut shredder from Royal, the SB-80 is quiet, fast, and dependable. It never stops (even when I put in 10-12 sheets at a time) and it has been troublefree. The SB-80 cuts paper into long strips, which is the only security I need. I considered getting a cross-cut shredder, but I was concerned about jamming. The SB-80 works jam-free because, I believe, it is so basic in its cutting operation. The more complicated the machine, the more problems you probably should anticipate.

If you have only basic security needs, then this is a great shredder. It should be perfect for the average home office.
