...you do not shred anything with tape on it! When shredding my name and address from packages I receive in the mail, (most have tape over them, or, adhesive backed labels) they will always cause the motor to continue running and/or everything you shred though it next will be pulled to one side, depending on where the tape is stuck to the teeth. Keep a long thin screwdriver or knife next to the unit for clearing the frequent jams. Also, as mentioned, if your name is Secret Squirrel; you will find that the shredded strips are too wide and can still be read by your adversaries. Oh, and it will also choke easily if you do not guide the pages in straight or try to feed it more than 3 pages at once. -- works fine..as long as...
